I really enjoy an organized home! Some parts of my home are very organized and some parts really need help! The inside of the cabinets in my laundry/pantry room (known as my pandry) certainly needed organization and tidying up of all the laundry stuff. In the image above I have two boxes with gold trim. I just didn’t like their look and the color doesn’t work with my wallpaper. You will see the after image (scroll below) that I got rid of the boxes and added two gold containers from Michaels to keep some of my ironing/laundry room essentials in.
I have pull-out cabinets for my dirty laundry (as seen above). I also have lots of shelves for serving ware such as – cake plates, extra serving dishes, etc. The rest of my “pandry” is very organized – but, whoa, opening the upper cabinets and seeing inside – is a jumbled mess of things everywhere.
I set aside 2 ยฝ hours to go through my cabinets and clean the mess! It was obvious that I needed containers to categorize, get a system going and tidy up. The main thing about LACK of organization is I had several bottles of the same item, empty boxes, two much of certain things, etc. It was a mess!
I knew that Michaels Stores has a good selection of fabulous baskets and containers along with a great sale of 50% off. Michaels has everything you need to get organized for the new year! From washi storage to lexington carts, you can MAKE your year the most organized one yet!
This was the Michaels Makers challenge for this month. So when I saw the gold wire baskets, I knew I wanted these baskets to help organize the items in my laundry cabinets. The turned out so nice! It makes me smile to open the laundry room cabinets and see everything all pretty!!
How I organized the cabinets:
I took all the items out of the cabinets, cleaned and wiped down the shelves. I took a damp cloth to wipe everything down and was surprised by the gunk that collects on the shelves. I found a few empty boxes and containers on the shelves. It’s amazing how things accumulate when I’m not paying attention.
When placing items back on the shelves, I made sure everything was wiped down and placed in containers to organize in a group. The most used items were placed in front of the baskets and least needed items were placed in the back. The great thing about the baskets is it’s easy to pull the basket out from the shelf to easily have access to everything in the basket. Otherwise, items can get lost in the back of the cabinet.
I keep my laundry detergent in the glass containers. It looks pretty sitting on the counter. You might notice from the pictures, the organic laundry detergent and that I have no dryer sheets. I’ve been using organic laundry detergent and wool dryer balls for quite a while. Many various laundry detergents have chemicals, pollutants and lots of toxins. Also, wool dryer balls are used to take the place of dryer sheets. I sprinkle a couple of drops of essential oils on the dryer balls. To help add natural fragrance to our clothes.
The inside of my cabinet doors is very dull. It would be a nice touch to add this surprise to the inside of the cabinet door.
Kraft tags, ribbon and gold containers were purchased at Michaels Stores.
What do you think? Do you have a room in your house that could use some organizing?
