Decorating an Easter table is a delightful way to welcome the spring season and gather loved ones for a day. Easter has always been special to me and gathering family for a yummy meal is the icing on top.
One tip I like to share is if you can decorate your table early in the season – do it! Use it daily for meals. It’s a great way to get into the spirit of the season. I used to decorate my table last minute and it was a lot of work for one meal. Now I have it out for at least a week if not for the whole holiday season.
I created a simple yet whimsical table just right for the Easter season. Let’s delve into decorating an Easter table, combining colorful elements with playful touches to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Decorating An Easter Table – Setting the Scene:
I have two dining tables. One I’ve used for many years to decorate for Easter and other holidays. This year, I decided to use my rustic wood table for a change of pace. This table is actually used as a sofa table and sits right behind my sofa. I needed an extra table for when our kids and guests come over, so it serves a dual purpose. Mostly used for a sofa table, yet ready to use as a dining room table – the best of both worlds.
I used our linen chairs, which are natural and comfortable for our Easter gathering.
The Table Basics
I love the look of natural wood, so I didn’t use any linens or runners in this setting. Feel free to add a tablecloth or table runner, for the added color and warmth. To incorporate texture and depth, place chargers at each setting. These rattan chargers add a touch of earthy elegance.
Napkins
I added two napkins to each place setting. The reason was for color! Pretty green napkins were placed at each place setting, folded neatly and creatively arranged to add visual interest – placed between the charger and the bunny plate. One napkin was included with the cutlery which is such a charming detail.
Consider incorporating bunny ears as napkin rings, adorned with a sprig of faux floral for a whimsical touch.
There are so many ways to add napkins to a place setting. I always play around with various colors and looks. Choose the one you like the best. I have a storage drawer of many colored linen napkins. I purchase them at places like World Market and HomeGoods. I find that I’m a napkin hoarder and love a good quality pretty napkin.
Whimsical Details
Decorating an Easter table with whimsy is easy by incorporating charming bunny plates, which serve as both functional dinnerware and festive decor. Also, scatter faux speckled eggs across the table like confetti, which adds bursts of color. The back of a bunny is a pocket that holds a napkin and cutlery. I added a sprig of faux flowers. These playful accents add whimsy to any table setting.
Celebrate Easter with cute bunny figurines, decorated eggs, and fake flowers. These lovely decorations make the table feel festive and cheerful, capturing the spirit of the season.
Centerpiece Showcase:
The centerpiece serves as the focal point of the Easter table, anchoring the overall design scheme. I opted for a white shabby chic candelabra (search for Provincial tabletop candelabra) adorned with faux eggs, replacing traditional candles with charming Easter-inspired accents. This classic centerpiece adds a whimsical touch. For this casual table setting, I preferred to not use candles.
Table Setting Basics:
When decorating an Easter table, remember the essential elements of a proper place setting:
- Placement: Begin by placing the charger at each seat, followed by the dinner plate in the center. It helps that the bunny plate adds a playful touch.
- Utensils: Typically I arrange forks, knives, and spoons the proper way – on either side of the plates, with the fork on the left and the knife and spoon on the right. However, for this casual setting, the cutlery is neatly placed in the bunny ears napkin holder.
- Glassware: Set the pink bubble hobnail glasses above the plates, to the top right.
- Finishing Touches: Scatter faux speckled eggs across the table, nestling them among the charger and plates. Add bunny figurines, large faux eggs, and faux flowers as desired to enhance the Easter theme.
Decorating an Easter table is an opportunity to embrace the joy of the season and make memories with loved ones. By combining colorful elements with whimsical accents, you can design a table setting to create a charming Easter that everyone will love.
Just make sure to add good food, quality Easter desserts, and yummy treats. The most important part of Easter is the Story of Easter. I created these Resurrection Eggs if you would like to add a wonderful tradition to this holiday.
