Final Reveal: Bedroom Makeover Using All Amazon Products

So here it is… the Final Reveal Bedroom Makeover Using All Amazon Products!! It took a bit longer than I wanted but it’s been done for a few weeks and I’ve already had company stay in my guest room (twice). I really love how it turned out. Farmhouse modern is the feel I was going for. If you remember, the “brick” wall is faux and I grouted between the lines on the fake brick paneling. Adding texture is what I wanted for the room and the wall was perfect for the focal point wall which adds interest and depth to the room.

But the one thing I think that is hard to believe is EVERYTHING (except the mattress) came from Amazon! I used my Prime membership account and had fun ordering. I especially loved shopping from home late at night when it was easier to find the time and not be bothered as much by what was going on around me. There is only one thing I purchased for this room that was returned. Artwork that was a vintage look was returned due to the aged yellowness of the art. The color looked white/cream in the image and when I received it I knew it was too yellow. As you know, there was no problem returning it back to Amazon. So FORTY items later and I have a complete room! Check it out!

Some tips on decorating a guest bedroom

• Keep scale in mind when decorating a room. The black metal canopy bed was only $189 (when I purchased it) with free shipping! Look how it makes this room and it was just the right size in scale for this bedroom.
• Pile on the pillows! It just makes the bed feel and look so much better.
• Luxurious bedding is a must! Comfortable pillow, sheets, and a beautiful comforter really steal the show on this bed.
• The comforter is Lush Decor Belle 4-Piece Comforter Set, Queen, White  I actually used the Lush shower curtain from the same product line for this farmhouse bathroom. I love the shower curtain! The bedding has been washed (it washed well), placed on the bed and is ready for cuddling! The comforter adds a soft shabby chic feel to the bed.
• Incorporate bold prints on accent items. The pillows and wool blanket throw are both a black and white buffalo check. I truly love them! The white is more of an “off white” than a true white.
• The wall light sconces are a must! It’s great there is no need for a bedside table for a lamp. I added wireless light switches that turn the wall lights on or off. The switches are attached to the bed frame (they have a sticky back or you can use screws) for easy access to turn off the light while in bed.
• Art is very important for decorating and can help pull a room together. I used a Mother Teresa sign quote in script and black wall maps of international cities. You can choose many cities. I picked four – London, Paris, Rome, and Dublin. Been to the first three -Dublin is next.
• Add texture to the walls. I certainly worked the walls. Love how they turned out.

This chair looks awesome and was only $199 with free shipping. It took about 5 minutes to put together and works really well in this room.

Final Reveal – this post!!

My goals for creating a modern farmhouse guest bedroom:

• Purchase the majority of the decor/products/furnishings from Amazon
• Add fake brick paneling
• Grout the brick paneling
• Paint the brick
• Paint the planked walls
• Add planked walls 
• Add electrical boxes for wall sconces
• Incorporate different textures into the design
• Purchase some furniture off of Amazon- I’ll let you know what I think about the quality  ????
• Add sconces and various lighting throughout the room
• Possibly paint the ceiling a bold color??- {I decided not to do this in the guest bedroom.}
• Style and decorate the room – rug, pillows, accessories, etc.
• Create a peaceful, beautiful bedroom for my guests on a budget

I met my goals with the exception of the bold ceiling color. It was going to be BLACK! I know it would have looked great in this room. However, I was running out of time and energy! I did recently use BLACK paint on a part of my house that you might not expect. I will be posting about that in a couple of weeks.
