LEGO Box

DIY LEGO Box made from dollar store muffin pans and a shoebox! Perfect LEGO party prop!

Do you have kids that love everything LEGO? Whether they watch the LEGO movie or love to build things with LEGO’s, this is the perfect craft for your family! Somehow LEGOs always seem to end up all over the floor… There’s nothing quite like stepping on scattered LEGOs every morning! Wouldn’t you love to have somewhere to stash some extra LEGOs, have some cute kids storage, 0r create the perfect decor for your LEGO party?! You NEED to make this LEGO Box!

Supplies

  • dollar store 6 cup cupcake tin
  • wood or foam board or shoe box (the shoe box has to be exactly the right size, which is tricky. Wood is sturdier to use for storage, while foam board would be good for a prop)
  • gorilla glue
  • hot glue gun
  • spray paint

Step 1: The trick to this DIY project is getting all the measurements right! Use the cupcake tin as your guide. You want the wood to fit perfectly under the cupcake tin. So you need one piece of wood exactly the same size as the cupcake tin, and 4 pieces to create the box underneath. If you can get the wood cut at Home Depot, and make sure it fits together perfectly, you’re off to a great start!

Step 2: Once you have your wood all measured, cut, and ready to go, it’s time to glue! First hot glue the cupcake tin onto the bottom of the shoe box or the piece of wood that fits. Then, begin gluing the sides together with gorilla glue. Follow the instructions on the bottle of gorilla glue very carefully or the wood will not adhere.

Step 3: Once all the sides are glued together, let it dry completely. Then, glue the top (the cupcake tin with the wood glued to it) to the rest of the box. Let this dry completely as well.

Step 4: Spray paint the LEGO whatever color you like! It’s fun to stick to the more traditional LEGO colors like red, yellow, blue, and green, but you really can use whatever color you like! Make it match your kids’ rooms or party- do their favorite colors!

Step 5: Finally, fill the box with LEGOs or other treasures! If you are using it as a prop, make sure to put it in a safe place – your kids will love it!
