I love how this nursery by Vanessa Shaffer Designs mixes modern design elements with traditional nursery themes to create a fabulous, hip Construction Nursery! It’s soothing and neutral and yet has bold colors and patterns. Vanessa says, “My husband and I love design and architecture, so when we found out we had a future little engineer on the way, we decided to give him give the perfect construction and design themed nursery.” Vanessa was on a mission to create a construction-themed room that had more to do with buildings and architecture and not just ‘cartoon-like dump trucks’, so she created most of the art herself. I’d say she nailed it.
The changing area is my favorite part of this room. Vanessa created a “Craftsman-inspired” dresser and changing table.
Vanessa says, “And what workbench is not complete without a peg board for your tools (or in this case, your diaper-changing tools)!”
Yes. She did convert a shabby chic dresser into an awesome toolbox changing table.
This nursery has to double as an office and a guest room. Vanessa coordinated the desk chair cushion and added a stripe of navy to the murphy bed to give the room a cohesive look.

Where did you get the rails for the dresser/changing table toolbox?

Hi Janessa,
I didn’t create this room. Sorry I can’t help. It sure is a cute idea.
Good luck!
