North Pole Snow: Recipe & Printable

Did you know that snow from the North Pole smells like peppermint and dazzles with glitter? Yep!! North Pole No-melt Snowball. Recipe and printable for North Pole Snow by Design Dazzle #christmaskids #northpoleideas #northpolesnow

Don’t you love the magic of Christmas? I certainly do! I love sharing ideas to create magical fun for kids and what is more magical than playing with snow from the North Pole?

Did you know that snow from the North Pole smells like peppermint and dazzles with glitter? Yep!!

There are two versions of North Pole Snow. One is dehydrated snowflakes that you just add water. This dehydrated snow creates the most amazing “snow”. I personally have used this brand of “snow” and not only do kids like to play with it but so do adults.

Here is a picture of the  dehydrated snow with water and a little glitter added. You can refrigerate this to make it cold. Store in a container or ziploc bag. When it starts “drying up” just add water and it’s just like new! You can save it for the following year.

The other type of North Pole Snow is the no-melt version. This recipe is shared below.

    North Pole No-Melt Snow Recipe

    • 2 c. baking soda
    • 1 c. cornstarch
    • 1 ½ c warm water
    • 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract or a couple of drops of peppermint essential oil

Mix together baking soda and cornstarch in pan. Add water and peppermint extract. Stir until lumps are gone. Bring to boil over medium heat. Remove from stove immediately and keep stirring until the thickness of frosting. Pour onto parchment paper or counter to cool. When cool knead. Store in covered container. This is the best recipe to make “snow”. This is a white version of play dough and is also a gluten free dough. This is NOT edible. Be careful about giving this to young children.

If you want to make it even more magical add glitter. I added the Iridescent Glitter when kneading the dough.

Create snowballs with the above recipe and place in cello bags, seal the cello, tie ribbon and place the North Pole Snow label on the bag and you’ve got the cutest stocking stuffers, party favors, classroom activity, etc!
