If you have the driveway space, it is fast and easy to make your very own driveway pickleball court. All you need is the concrete/asphalt space, a portable net, portable pickleball lines, a couple of pickleball paddles, and regulation plastic balls.
It will not only be super convenient to have your own court but you’ll become very popular with the neighbors and make a lot of new friends. I worked with OnCourt OffCourt on this sponsored post. As always, all opinions are my own.
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the USA and it is getting more difficult to find available outdoor courts at public parks. Our new home has a long driveway and we specifically requested a wider driveway pad to accommodate an outdoor pickleball court.
It’s fantastic to accomplish two goals with a single setup. I’m sharing the simple process of transforming your driveway into a functional pickleball court.
Regulation Pickleball Court
A standard pickleball court playing area is 44 feet long and 20 feet wide for both singles and doubles play. The ideal space should be about 60 feet long and 30 feet wide. This will allow enough space as you move about during a game.
The non-volley zone or “kitchen” extends 7 feet from the net on either side of the court area. The space on our driveway for the new pickleball court is 65 feet long and 40 feet wide and provides more than enough room.

Picking a Portable Pickleball Net
We invited our neighbors over for some friendly pickleball fun. We chose the OnCourt Offcourt Picklenet Deluxe for our net system. The net is 22 feet wide and is 36 inches high at the sideline and 34 inches high at the center line.
The net is endorsed by USA Pickleball and is a best-selling portable net. We were drawn to the quality of construction, the ease of assembly, the 4-inch lockable wheels, and the exceptional reviews. We talk all the time about the QUALITY of this net. It rolls out with ease, the wheels lock and the net doesn’t sag!
The net was provided with a rolling bag for storage, but we prefer to simply roll it into the garage and keep it set up, disregarding the bag. It’s so convenient that way. It also came with a set of pickleballs.
Assembling the Picklenet Deluxe
I watched a 2-and-a-half-minute video on the Oncourt Offcourt website showing the net assembly. The net setup took 2:41 seconds. I was hooked. Click here for Picklenet Deluxe Net. I can’t say enough good things about our portable pickleball net! It is so awesome.
It was as easy as the video. I laid the pieces out on our concrete driveway. The pieces are numbered for easy assembly. No tools are required. I did not rush and assembled the net in 3 minutes.
We were ready to hit balls back and forth immediately. The wheels lock solid and the net does not budge. When unlocked, the net moves freely and with ease. This was awesome!
We have space in our garage to store the assembled net and simply roll the net into the garage after playing. Such a game-changer! I love how quick and easy this is to set up!
Court Lines
There are different options when considering marking the playing area of your driveway pickleball court. You can paint the lines on your concrete surface, but you may not want to have a painted court on the driveway.
Another option is to use duct tape or colored tape to outline the entire court. Sidewalk chalk is another option but the chalk lines easily smear. We chose the Pickleball Line Set by Oncourt Offcourt. The kit comes with ten 5-foot sections and 8 corner sections. The beveled lines are made from a rubber and plastic material.
In 5 minutes you can lay the pieces down in straight lines according to the diagram and have a regulation pickleball court. When finished simply return the pieces to their carrying case. There is no mess and no permanent marking on your driveway.
We will, however, make some small light markings on the driveway so we know where to base the line set and it will take even less time to situate the court lines. For us, the Pickleball Line Set was an excellent choice. We don’t want large intrusive markings on our driveway.
Ball Machine – “Practice Makes Perfect”
At first, when I mentioned the idea of this ball machine to my husband, he didn’t seem too interested. However, after discussing its potential for improving our swing and hitting practice, we agreed it might be beneficial.
Once we set it up and started using it— it was truly WOW! The Infinity Play System with the Multi-Twist Mini Ball Machine is a self-feeding system that allows the player to hit the ball into the net and to have unlimited pitch back.
You can easily use this machine on your own or with a partner.
At times when I don’t have someone to play with, this ball machine becomes the perfect solution. I find great enjoyment playing solo using this machine.
The machine has 5 adjustable settings to practice volleys or groundstrokes. I used the system for hours this summer and enjoyed the exercise and practice. The feeder can initially be finicky, but once you have it set properly the balls just keep coming. Make sure to use the outdoor balls. We found the indoor balls were getting stuck. This is a very FUN machine to play with. Our friends who have played with the ball machine say, we need to get one of these!
DIY Pickleball Court
If you have a hard surface, you can have your very own pickleball court with very little investment. Nets can be purchased for a reasonable price. I highly recommend the portable Picklenet Deluxe which costs about $450. It is high quality, a breeze to assemble, sturdy, and easy to move about on its wheels. You can chalk your own lines but there are downsides to both chalk, court tape, and painted lines. I prefer the Pickleball Line Set by Oncourt Offcourt. They offer less expensive and more expensive options.
Next, get a couple of paddles and balls and go for it. It is so much fun and can be played by people of all ages. In no time at all you’ll be able to host your neighbors to pickleball games.
Do It Yourself Pickleball Court on Driveway
Transforming your driveway into a pickleball court is an excellent way to enjoy this fast-growing sport without leaving the comfort of your home. It’s easy to mark the court boundaries. Investing in a portable net and some pickleball equipment will complete the setup. Remember, while it’s a simple process, the joy and convenience of having your own court for practice and playtime are unparalleled. Your friends and neighbors will love it!

Nice idea, one problem. No backstop. Balls end up in the street.

We will be putting up a net to help catch the runaway balls. ; )
