This fish bowl gelatin will definitely add color and character to your fun-filled birthday or pool party or just for a cool thing to make with your kiddos this summer! It’s easy for kids to make and you can even add sharks for an edible craft for shark week. Shark week has been going on for many years on the Discover channel. It starts either in July or August.

This fish bowl gelatin dessert is super easy and quick to make but the key is to layer the gelatin. The multi-colored nerd candies get sealed with a thin layer of gelatin so it doesn’t bleed into the entire gelatin bowl.
The gelatin should be quite thick before pouring it into the fish bowl.
Ingredients For Fish Bowl Gelatin:
- 1 packet of unflavored gelatin
- 1 3.5-ounce box of blue Kool-Aid
- ยฝ cup cold water
- 1 cup hot water
- Chunky sprinkles or Nerd candy. Any candy that would look like aquarium gravel is perfect!
- Swedish Gummy Fish
- Gummy Sharks – the gelatin should be more of a green/blue so the sharks stand out and don’t blend in.
- Small glass aquarium or fishbowl (I found mine t the Dollar Store, but you can also find them in any pet store aquarium section.)
Directions for fish bowl gelatin:
Steps 1-4:
Add unflavored gelatin to a medium size bowl and add ยฝ cup cold water.
Allow to soak for 2 minutes. Whisk until the gelatin is dissolved.
Steps 5-7:
Add blue Kool-Aid to the bowl and add 1 cup of hot water.
Whisk until Kool-Aid is completely dissolved.
Steps 8-10:
Add your candy to the bottom of your aquarium or fish bowl.
Add gelatin, filling the bowl almost to the top. Some of the candy will float to the top.
Wait a few minutes and use a spoon to push them down and they will settle to the bottom.
Steps 11-12:
Place bowl in the fridge until the gelatin is completely set.
Using a sharp knife, make a very small slit in the gelatin and slide a Swedish fish into the slit.
Add a few. Make it fun!
