As a Michael’s Maker I have a challenge I get to create every month! This month the challenge was to come up with holiday tips and gifts for holiday stress and issues we all encounter during the season. I chose the challenge to create gifts for teachers and neighbors and coworkers. We all know that can be a struggle to come up with the perfect gift but I have come up with a few great DIY gifts that you will be thrilled to pass out to teachers, neighbors and whomever else on your list that is challenging to buy for!
Michaels is a great place to purchase DIY gifts. For the printables I always use the cardstock paper they carry near their scrapbook aisle. It is 65 lb weight and 50 sheets to a package. It sells for $4.99 but a lot of times they have it on sale for 4 packages for $10. I stock up on it then. They also have 110 lb cardstock I find that is a little to heavy to run through my printer. The 65lb weight goes through my inexpensive printer just fine. For the other gifts I purchased a scented Christmas candle in a jar, ribbon, tissue paper, a glass milk bottle and the cardstock paper.
Today I have three festive (and simple!) DIY gift ideas that are perfect for teachers, friends, neighbors, coworkers….anyone that you want to give a gift to that says I’m thinking about you this holiday season. Plus each fun idea comes with a free printable to make giving this gift a little bit easier. And prettier!
1. It’s Beginning To Smell A Lot Like Christmas!
Who doesn’t love having their home filled with the sweet smells of Christmas! Purchase your favorite holiday scent (or several) and attach this fun, free printable with some festive ribbon. These are great gifts to prepare ahead of time and even keep extras on hand for the unexpected gift giving occasion. You can also create a Christmas potpourri and add to some mason jars with this printable. The candle cost less than $5. This will be the easiest DIY gift you will ever make. SUPER EASY!!
2. Hot Cocoa Wish With Mistletoe Kisses!
No one can resist a warm cup of hot cocoa this time of year and adding mistletoe kisses (also known as Hershey kisses) makes it that much more irresistible! Simply pair your favorite hot cocoa mix with some chocolate kisses and our sweet tag for a gift that is sure to be enjoyed! I purchased the dairy milk bottle and poured hot cocoa mix inside and threw in a few chocolate kisses. That always makes for a yummy treat. Add the printable with a touch of mistletoe and this is another super easy gift.
3. HO! HO! HO! DOUGH! DOUGH! DOUGH!
Whether the gift is cookie dough or money, this gift is sure to put a smile on their face! Whether it’s yummy frozen cookie dough (check out my post here for recipe and how-to) or dough of a different kind ($$$) this is a gift that can be enjoyed now or later! As a family we would make chocolate chip cookie dough and freeze it all wrapped up. Who doesn’t love cookie dough? They can eat it frozen or bake it at their convenience. A gift card could also work!
