Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree is iconic, but the colorful trees featured for less than a minute in A Charlie Brown Christmas inspired today’s Colorful Christmas Tree Lot.
Howdy! I’m Do (pronounced doe or dough) from Piggy Bank Parties where I share simple and affordable ideas to help you make CENTS of entertaining. I’m honored to be a part of Design Dazzle‘s Christmas Wonderful series this year and excited to meet y’all!
Our family celebrates the Christmas season with many special traditions including watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s filled with so many great scenes, however, there’s one that has always mesmerized me—the Christmas tree lot. The lot features trees of every size, shape and color and makes the little girl in me do the Peanuts’ Happy Dance.
To create your own Colorful Christmas Tree Lot, you’ll need to gather the following supplies and maybe a few little helpers:
SUPPLIES
- Colorful Christmas Tree Lot Free Download
- Latest version of Adobe Reader (free download at www.adobe.com)
- 8.5″ x 11″ 60-80 lb. bright white cardstock or photo paper
- Color printer or take to a print shop
- Scissors
- Scoring tool or ink-less pen and ruler
- Adhesive tape, double-sided tape or glue
- [Optional] Activity notes or small treats and trinkets
DIRECTIONS
The first page of the download features easy step-by-step directions including what paper to print on. My favorite is 61 lb. matte photo paper available at office supply stores.
You can make as many or as few trees as you’d like. I made a lot because I love to use one item multiple ways, especially when it comes to decorating my home for Christmas or a party. Here are four ways to use the Colorful Christmas Tree Lot Free Download during the holidays:
CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
Add faux snow around the trees to create a colorful wintry scene on your fireplace mantel or another furniture piece. I used a 1″ circle punch and dollar store white tissue paper to make the mod faux snow for this vignette.
TIME-SAVING TIP: If you’re not planning to fill the trees with goodies, you can save time by only cutting out the top portion of the tree.
ADVENT CALENDAR
Create a festive advent calendar by adding numbers to the tree bases then fill the trees with activity notes or small treats and trinkets.
TABLE CENTERPIECE
Are you hosting a sit-down dinner this holiday season? Use the Colorful Christmas Tree Lot as a whimsical centerpiece for your table. It’s sure to bring child-like joy to the faces of your dinner guests!
PARTY FAVOR BOXES
If you’re organizing a Christmas get-together, fill the boxes with goodies for your guests to take home as party favors.
ENTERTAINING TIP: Use filled party favor boxes as decorations on your table, buffet and around the party space. Ask your guests to take a box with them when they’re ready to leave. They go home feeling loved and you have less to clean up!
