Excited to be back on design dazzle today! my original plan was to do this really fun game with water balloons. but wouldn’t you know—this first week of summer has been COLD! really cold.

so we opted for plan b….Indoor fun with cardboard!

I love cardboard. One simple box will entertain my kids for hours. Whether wearing it on the head to be a space men..or sitting in it as a car– the power of cardboard is amazing.

and with a little scissors and tape power…we ended up making…

cardboard farm

and a

cardboard zoo

i have no making shots—cause i had the x-acto knife and was trying to help the kids. but everything is pretty self explanatory. We cut the basic shapes and taped (and hot glued) some of the pieces together. My son wanted to color the cage–

don't feed the animals

but that’s because i think he has ulterior motives

the tree and signs are decorated by my daughter

–and held together by cutting notches and making an x

the barn has a top that you can lift up one side–(that’s where we store all the pieces)

barn

and the door opens. (you could have your kids paint this…or cover it in duct tape)

the silo also doubles as a princess tower….

cardboard village

it only took us an hour to put together…and the kids are still playing with it.playing with the zoo

and to really get your creative juices flowing.. i’ve compiled 27 cardboard crafts that i’m sure your kids will love!!!!
