I love being a parent (maybe there are a few moments here and there that I don’t enjoy as much). And to me there is nothing better than learning tips and having new ideas to help raise your kids. Uplift Families Organization promotes good parenting skills, strengthen families, and offer resources to parents. Although this is Utah program and resources are throughout the state of Utah, the website is amazing and is available to everyone. The website connects parents to programs, resources and information – both from Uplift Families and partner organizations – that help them acquire the skills necessary to raise loving, responsible children. Jeanette Herbert, First Lady of Utah started this program because of her love of children and seeing the need to help parents.
The three fold purpose of Uplift Families is the following:
1. To strengthen parent-child relationships
2. To provide tools and resources that improve parenting skills
3. To help children make safe and healthy choices
Uplift Families is offering a Parenting Conference held at Thanksgiving Point Show Barn on Saturday, September 19th at 5:30 pm.

I had lunch with a group of women at the Governor’s Mansion hosted by Jeanette Herbert, First Lady. We found out more about this initiative and the wonderful ideas and resources to help parents who are concerned about their kids. I found myself chatting with the First Lady for several minutes. You would never guess the topic. Yep, never!?! The topic was about KY Jelly. Yes, true story. You can go to this post to see what project we discussed that uses personal lubricant.
Uplift Families believes that strong parent-child relationships are the key to providing children with the tools necessary to make safe and healthy choices in their lives, keeping them free of drugs, alcohol, violence, crime and pornography. The Uplift Families program will include Web-based resources, social media experiences, educational materials, and periodic conferences on the family.

“Our organization believes that to have a strong viable state, we must have strong viable families. We have great concern for the children of Utah and the negative influences they are exposed to. We believe strongly that by getting the message out to parents as to the critical nature of their positive involvement with their children, we can help turn the tide of juvenile problems that we see as a growing threat to our society.” —First Lady Jeanette Herbert
