Creating a fairy garden tea party takes a special magical touch. When I made my fairy party on a budget last year, I had to use my magic touch and a LOT of creativity! Because I was on a tight budget (under $100), I couldn’t afford to buy or rent the beautiful chairs a tea party needs. Instead, I decided to add some magic and have my fairies sit on the ground on flowers – made from dollar store placemats! I used an ordinary folding table and placed it on cinder blocks so it would be low to the ground. This was the perfect height for my fairies sitting on their fairy flower seats!
Supplies
- dollar store rectangular foam placemats
- light pink, dark pink, yellow, white acrylic craft paint
- foam paint brush
- scissors
- sharpie
Step 1: Trace the shape of a flower onto your placemats with a pencil. Make the flowers as big as you can on the rectangular placemat! Paint on the petals and details of the flower with the craft paint. Be creative! Mix the colors and add variation to make them really pop! These don’t have to be perfect or match exactly! A little variation adds to the whimsy of the look.
Step 2: Cut the flower out along the traced line with a pair of scissors. These placemats are easy to cut.
Step 3: Have sweet fairies take a seat on their new flower mats!
This was a great solution to a budget and seating problem at my fairy party! I love repurposing and finding creative ways to make things work for me. I hope you enjoy this simple project and feel inspired to get creative in finding solutions for your projects!
