It is also a nice favor for your Harry Potter themed party!
Supplies:
- ยฝ pound melt and pour *suspension soap base cut into cubes (each cube is approx. 1 ounce) (You can find it here
- ยฝ pound melt and pour clear soap base cut into cubes (each cube is approx. 1 ounce) (You can find it here on Amazon)
- Maroon/Wine soap coloring (I used colors from this set from Amazon)
- Yellow/Gold soap coloring (See above)
- Dark Red cosmetic glitter (You can find it here on Amazon)
- Gold or Yellow cosmetic glitter (You can find it here on Amazon)
- 10-20 drops of Cardamom essential oil (You can find it here in this set on Amazon)
- 10-20 drops of Cedarwood essential oil (You can find it here in this set on Amazon)
- Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
- Loaf Soap Mold (I got mine on Amazon)
- 2 microwave-safe bowls or measuring cups
*Suspension soap is a bit thicker when melted compared to regular melt and pour soaps. This allows glitter, jojoba beads, etc. to be suspended within the soap mixture as opposed to falling to the bottom as it will with regular melt and pour soaps.
You do not have to use this soap if you don’t have it. Just double up on the regular melt and pour soap base.
Instructions:
Maroon:
Step 1:
Add 15 cubes of the clear soap base and 15 cubes of the suspension soap base to a microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup and melt soap cubes in 30 second intervals, stirring after each until completely melted. You want to end up with 24 ounces to make 4-6-ounce layers.
Steps 2-3:
Add essential oils to the melted soap base.
Steps 4-6:
Add 1 teaspoon of the maroon/wine soap coloring and 1 teaspoon of the dark red glitter.
If the color is not what you want, add ยฝ-1 teaspoon and stir until the desired color is achieved.
Steps 7-9:
Spray bottom of mold with rubbing alcohol to prevent bubbles from forming on the bottom.
Pour 6 ounces of the maroon soap mixture into the mold.
Spray mixture with rubbing alcohol to prevent bubbles from forming on the top.
Allow to harden completely before pouring the next layer.
You can tell if the layer is not hardened if you blow on it and you see ripples.
Yellow/Gold:
Step 1:
Add 12 cubes of the clear soap base and 12 cubes of the suspension soap base to a microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup and melt soap cubes in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until completely melted.
You want to end up with 18 ounces to make 3-6-ounce layers.
Steps 2-3:
Add essential oils to the melted soap base.
Steps 4-6:
Add 1 teaspoon of the yellow/gold soap coloring and 1 teaspoon of the yellow/gold glitter. If the color is not what you want, add ยฝ-1 teaspoon and stir until the desired color is achieved.
Steps 7-9:
Spray top of the maroon layer with rubbing alcohol.
This helps each layer adhere to one another.
Pour 6 ounces of the yellow/gold soap mixture into mold.
Spray mixture with rubbing alcohol to prevent bubbles from forming on the top.
Allow to harden completely before pouring the next layer.
You can tell if the layer is not hardened if you blow on it and you see ripples.
Repeat steps 1-9 for each alternating layer until the mold is filled.
Allow to harden to least 24 hours.
Gently remove loaf from mold and remove soap.
Cut your Harry Potter soap into bars. Store in an airtight container until ready for use.

So happy to help. I love this idea as a take-home gift!
Make sure to check out the HP bridal shower I did for my daughter. Although yours will be a baby shower there still might be some ideas. https://www.designdazzle.com/harry-potter-themed-bridal-shower-idea/
