    DIY Roman Shades

I’ve been slowly entering into the world of making my own blinds and curtains. For the longest time I thought that I just didn’t have enough knowledge to make decent window treatments. Then one day I got brave and tried my hand at window toppers for my family room. That was it. I fell in love! I love that I got to choose my own fabrics. I love how the toppers turned out. It’s been 2 years and I still smile every time I see them. Now I’m starting to research DIY Roman Shades. Once again I was so intimidated by the idea of making my own. But then I found some amazing tutorials. WOW! I mean seriously WOW! Did you know you could make roman shades without sewing a single stitch? Or that you could take apart a miniblind to create a custom roman shade?!?! I can’t wait to get started! Here are some of my favorite tutorials that I found in my search:

Here’s another picture of the recovered roman shades. The picture above doesn’t do the adorable shared boys room justice. You can see the re-covered roman shade off on the left. It was originally a chocolate brown.

This one is a cool concept! These shades don’t involve any pull cords or sewing. They are held in place using tension rods.
