Christmas in Black, White and Mint

Hello Design Dazzle readers! I’m Dawn from Not Just A Mommy and I’m so glad to be back  for Christmas Wonderful.  Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and I’m always looking to make it interesting by playing around with non-traditional colors and themes like Hoggy Holidays and Mrs. Claus and Santa’s Mustache Bash.    This year, I’m mixing classic black and white with mint for a fresh color palette for a kids’ party table.  With store-bought treats and a few easy ideas, you can invite your child’s friends over for hot cocoa and sweets and look fabulous.

  • My favorite holiday table coverings, gift wrap paper! It’s the perfect base for decorating, it’s inexpensive and makes clean up a breeze.  Check out  dollar deal hotspots like Dollar Tree and Target’s Dollar Spot; I found the striped paper in Michaels Dollar Spot and layered over gold wrapping paper.
  • Storebought treats are always a great place to start for easy entertaining.  You can never go wrong with cookies and doughnuts!  Even plating them on cake stands or your favorite holiday plate steps them up a notch.
  • One of my favorite ways to jazz up doughnuts, piping a swirl of frosting and topping off with a cute topper.  Mine are premade flags but you can recreate the look with scrapbook paper or washi tape.
  • Fake snow is universally the best way to make any winterscape awesome.  Use lots of it and scatter with jingle bells, mini ornaments, peppermints, whatever you desire!

  • I found these pretty ceramic reindeer heads at Target and added the garland I made with bakers’ twine and dot stickers.  While at Target, I picked up Oh Joy’s For Target mugs and paper plates, perfect for year-round entertaining.
  • Add a few origami trees to your tablescape.  They are a wonderful way to add glamour to your table for very little money.  I found this great tutorial from Krokotak and folded the larger ones from 12″ square gold mylar paper and the tablesetting trees from Bigger Bitty Bags.
  • I love items that do double duty like my favor placecard. I wrapped little bags of Lindor chocolates I found at Dollar Tree in Middy Bitty Bags and added a sticker.  Kids love to see their names and initials on everything and this is a great way to keep them from fighting over who sits where.
