These Christmas clay bracelets make great gifts for friends, family, coworkers and kids (as a stocking stuffer). They are so quick and easy to make.
Hello! I’m so excited to be a part of the Christmas Wonderful series again this year! I hope you love this tutorial for how to make Christmas clay bracelets.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Christmas clay bracelets:
- clay polymer beads
- gold and/or silver spacers
- stretchy clear elastic string
- scissors
- tape
- ruler
First, start by choosing the bead colors you want to use. If you are planning on layering the bracelets, it’s fun to pick coordinating colors.
Next, get an idea for bracelet patterns by laying out your beads on the table. This just gives you something to go off of so you can visualize how the finished bracelet will look. I did a couple of different color schemes for my bracelets: classic red, white and green with metallic spacers and pastel pink and purple with white and silver spacers.
Once you have your patterns chosen, it’s time to figure out how long your elastic string needs to be. The best way I’ve found is to hold the elastic loosely around my wrist, then let go of the side that’s already cut and measure out the length of the elastic and cut. Remember to take into account the fact that the beads will add length to your bracelet so don’t hold it too close to your wrist.
Now, tape one end of the elastic to your table or other work surface. This will keep it from moving while you string the beads. And now you’re ready to start beading!
When you have about an inch of elastic left, carefully remove the tape from the other end. Hold the two ends together so there is an equal amount of elastic on both sides. Then you are going to do what is called a triple knot, or a surgeon’s knot. This type of knot is stronger than a double knot and by using it, your bracelet is more likely to not come undone. I have included an image from the back of package on my elastic string so you can see how to do it.
After your knot it tied, trim the ends of the elastic and put on your new bracelet!
Merry Christmas and happy crafting!
