What a fun use of space! Jennifer from Rambling Renovators created a fabulous Playhouse Under the Stairs that serves as both sanctuary and dream space for her daughter, Chloe. From the awning outside that gives it a French Bistro feel, to the magnetic play board outside to the hand-stenciled walls and the down floor pillow for dreaming, this is one special hideaway!
Oh yes. I did say hand-stenciled. Jennifer admits that it was a lot of work but the end result is fabulous.
The awning was made by attaching 2 shelf brackets to the wall. Jennifer says, “Then I made a paper pattern, using a good old protractor to figure out the scallops. The pattern was three parts – two sides and one top/front – and I transposed it onto a striped gray fabric with a white lining. I think if I didn’t use striped fabric and had two layers of fabric, the sewing would have gone much easier. The fabric is held onto the bracket with velcro straps.”
