With Summer in full swing, it’s time to celebrate those warm summer days & nights with a party! You don’t even need a reason to celebrate – just invite a bunch of friends or family over for a fun chance to hang out and enjoy the beautiful weather and each other’s company. Here are some of my best summer party planning tips to help you create a memorable summer celebration.
1. Start with a fabulous invitation. As I’ve always said, a great invitation is the first impression your guests will receive and sets the tone for the event. Choose an invitation design that reflects your personality and portrays the overall theme or feel of the party you’re envisioning. If you’re planning far enough in advance, a printed invitation is always my first choice, but sometimes your schedule just doesn’t allow for that, so an electronic invitation from Evite is a great choice as well. With tons of invitation styles to choose from, I guarantee you’ll find a design that fits your occasion just perfectly!
2. Choose your party décor. Now that guests have an idea of what the party is going to be like because they’ve received a fun invitation, make sure your party décor portrays the same theme as your invitation. Celebrate Express has a great selection of décor and tableware to make your gathering look fabulous. Some of my favorites for a summer party include: hanging paper lanterns, fringe deck décor, hibiscus table centerpieces, fun signs, colorful plates and napkins.
3. Create your menu. Food is another very important detail when planning your summer get-together. The food table is usually the gathering area for guests so choose menu items that will please everyone. Sandra Lee has some delicious recipes that are perfect for those summer parties, such as this Grilled Sausage and Summer Vegetable Pasta, a yummy Berry-centric Salad, and Peach and Raspberry Sorbet Cupcakes for dessert. If children are invited, be sure to include some kid-friendly choices such as hamburgers and diggity dogs. Don’t forget some fun summer drink choices as well, like this refreshing Watermelon Fizz!
4. Party Favors for your guests. A simple little party favor to thank guests for coming to your summer soiree is always a fun way to end the night. Some colorful party mints placed in a cellophane bag with a cute thank you tag from Celebrate Express is the perfect party favor.
