During the process of remodeling this bedroom, we received word that our granddaughter would be coming to live with us for extended lengths of time. Having survived the childhoods of my own 2 children, I knew that storage and a place for everything was important. Straightening up the room needed to be easy and convenient. We purchased 2 tower shelving units and a floating shelf and used that as the anchor for the bed. The addition of small directional light under the bridge give her the perfect amount of light when she's in bed. She is able to switch the lights on and off without getting out of bed. The addition of the storage shelves at the foot of the bed was ideal for storage boxes and accessibility for her. A nice comfy chair and ottoman to snuggle up in and read a bedtime book was a definite requirement. The blue bed cover is actually a tablecloth I found on sale. It is durable and has been washed many times and continues to retain its shape and color. Sasha and I went shopping for some additional room decor to address her own personal decorating style. She picked out the fluffy blue rug and the pink and white polka dot sheet set. Every time she has someone in her room, she has to show them just what she picked out and tends to ask them "Isn't it beautiful?"
