Design Dazzler Room of the Month April 2009 Once upon a time Jennifer Palmer I've always been an avid reader and wanted to incorporate this passion with the love of fairy tales growing up into a classic, shabby chic, fairy tale room. I wanted to do so without being too "princessish".
First I started with adding the chair rail and choosing paint colors. I'd highly recommend getting small quarts from your local paint store. I changed the paint colors several times on the stripe after letting the paint dry in her room. The paint is by Sherwin Williams and its a satin finish although now I don't know the colors. The murals came next! I wanted it whimsical fun, and be able to grow with her. Muralist is Ginger Loy Calhoun, Ga phone 706-629-7677. All furniture is from JCPenney. The collection is called the Morgan collection by Savanna (ironic) in color espresso. The bedding is by Migi - to purchase click here. The round mirrors in the room are from Target. The lamp, lampshade, and curtains, curtain rods and finials are from Pottery Barn kids. The side table is from Target, I was impressed at how close a match it is to the furniture from JCPenney.
I'm a full time working mom, who poured her heart and soul into this nursery during the pregnancy. I'd always dreamed of designing my little one's nursery, so it was a blast watching it come to life! I'm already planning our next one! My little girl just turned one yesterday and contrary to what a lot of people say we've spend a lot of time in her nursery reading, playing, and relaxing! It's the perfect little haven!
