Help the kids get road trip ready with a customized collection bag to hold all of their treasures!
Hi, guys! Michele from The Scrap Shoppe here as your “Camp Counselor” for today. I love this Summer Camp series, and it’s focus on fun projects for kids! It helps me keep my two little boys entertained for the summer.
I don’t know about your kids, but mine seem to collect everything. You name it, they have a collection of it. Their moods shift from day-to-day as to which particular collection is in their favor. But one thing they definitely love is to take their favored collection with them wherever they happen to be going that day. To make this easier, I decided to make them their very own Collection Bags!
You can easily sew up some little drawstring bags, but I happened to find these linen ones in the Target Dollar Spot. It was too good of a deal to pass up!
If you are a Silhouette user you can download the SVG file for the Super Amazing Collection of Awesomeness here. It also comes with the name label tag, which you can add your child’s name to.
Size the image to fit your needs and cut out on heat transfer vinyl.
Remember: When cutting an iron on image on heat transfer vinyl to flip the image horizontally prior to cutting.
Carefully peel back the unneeded heat transfer vinyl from the clear plastic base. I don’t have a weeding tool so I tend to use a paper piercer for this task.
Center the image on the bag.
Lay a piece of fabric or mesh pad over the HTV and press firmly with the hot iron.
Peel clear plastic from HTV while still warm.
Iron on HTV on both sides of the bag. With 2 little boys, I for sure needed to make 2 bags. Having their names on them was also a must.
Now it’s just a matter of deciding what to fill them up with!
Or maybe your massive Perler Bead collection!
Now my kids can easily carry their favorite toys with them everywhere they go with little fear of pieces being lost. And they love that their bags have their names on them! All I have to do is tell them to fill them up, and we are ready to hit the road.
