Hi everyone! I am so excited to be here today for Summer Camp. It has been a long time since I have been a camp counselor!!! But I am so happy Toni invited me to participate in this years Summer Camp. Well What kid doesn’t like to make a yummy treat and share it with his friends?? Here is a fun and easy recipe for no bake Chunky Monkey Pops!!
These are a simple crispy rice cereal treat with a little twist!! I added peanut butter and chopped peanuts in the cereal treat!! How yummy is that??
Now the fun part is shaping the treat around a skewer or straw to resemble a banana!!! Yes that’s right that is why its called a Chunky Monkey Pop!! The cereal treat is shaped like a banana!! You want to wait for the treat to cool down a bit before you start to shape it. The kids are going to love this!!! They get to play with their food!!!
But wait there is even more fun to add to these treats!! Chocolate and sprinkles!! It doesn’t get any better than this!!! Peanut Butter, chocolate and sprinkles I think I am in heaven!!
Once the cereal treat is shaped around the skewer you dip it in melted chocolate! Then load on the sprinkles!! I used chopped peanuts, chocolate jimmies, and multi colored sprinkles!! So festive and fun!! You can use your favorite toppings for your sprinkles!!
Now I bet your wondering how these taste? Oh my goodness they are soooo yummy!! We will be making these again that is for sure!!
And who doesn’t love a treat on a stick right??? I had a blast making these and I am sure you will too!!
Chunky Monkey Pops
1 Pkg (10 oz.) Lg Marshmallows
2T Peanut Butter
6 C. crispy rice cereal
½ C. chopped peanuts
12 skewers or sturdy paper straws
2 C Milk Chocolate Chips
2 T Shortening
½ C chopped peanuts
½ C multi colored sprinkles
½ C Chocolate jimmies
In a large sauce pan heat marshmallows, butter and peanut butter until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal and chopped peanuts, mix well until all is coated with marshmallow mixture. Let cool for 3-5 minutes.
Transfer mixture to wax paper and divide into 20 portions. With buttered hands shape treat around skewer/straw to resemble a small banana.
In the microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave save bowl for 20 second intervals stirring in between until completely melted. Dip ends of bananas in chocolate and gently shake off excess chocolate. Sprinkle on desired toppings and place on wax paper, let stand until chocolate has set. Store in air tight container.
