Organization: Kids Personal History Boxes
One great way to de-clutter a bedroom is to give yourself permission to hold onto things. Yes. I said hold onto things.
One of my dazzling assistants, Carrie, uses a memory storage concept that really works for her. She says, “In my house, each person has a Personal History Box. Personal History Boxes are for long term memory storage, not day-to-day treasures. The rule is ‘If it fits in the box, you can keep it. No questions asked.’ A favorite pair of pajamas that no longer fit but just can’t be given away? No problem. Last year’s stack of Valentine cards? No problem.” I love that her kids see that their treasures are respected and I hear that it makes it easier for them to part with the non-treasures. Their boxes are fun and colorful just like these boxes from Busy Bug Boxes.
Repurposed laundry detergent bucket makes a great storage container for kids art and special items or keepsakes.
